Available metal seal ring sizes: Outer diameter 318.5~354mm
Metal Seal Ring Material: High alloy cast iron.
O-Ring material defines its temperatures and pressure. Fuyote offers three kinds of materials for o-rings: NBR, HNBR, and Silicone.
Primary Applications: Specifically for applications with extreme mud impact & limited installation space.
Two metal seal rings come together to form a sealing surface that is perpendicular to the axis. O-rings facilitate the transfer of pressure from the housing to one of the metal seal rings, allowing it to rotate with the housing while the other remains stationary. This results in a relative motion between the two mechanical face seals.
As these two face seals move in relation to each other, they create an oil film on the contact surface, which is crucial for effective sealing. When they rotate, the mating surfaces establish a contact band that typically ranges from 0.008 inches (0.2mm) to 0.02 inches (0.5mm) in width. This contact band serves the purpose of retaining the oil lubricant and resisting the intrusion of foreign particles. Over time, as wear occurs, the contact band may shift inward. However, the elasticity of the O-ring compensates for this shift, ensuring that the mechanical face seals maintain their precise position and sealing integrity.
These seals exhibit exceptional sealing capabilities against external contaminants like abrasive materials, moisture, chemicals, oil, and grease. They are also highly resistant to wear and corrosion, resulting in a long service life and requiring no maintenance. Moreover, they possess self-centering properties that accommodate shaft eccentricity or misalignment, and the presence of oil between the seal faces facilitates lubrication and cooling, allowing for higher rotational speeds.
The FUYOTE design, featuring a single rotating metallic seal, not only achieves a leak-proof seal but also eliminates the need for maintenance and offers an exceptionally long service life. It can withstand vibrations, misalignment, eccentricity, assembly wear, and various other conditions. The benefits of the FUYOTE product are outlined below.
To prevent rusting and enhance o-ring grip, black seal faces are employed, preventing o-ring sliding. For customers requiring white seal faces to achieve the same effect, FUYOTE offers anti-skid stripes.
The seal contact bands are equipped with cross-hatched grooves, ensuring sufficient oil flow and heat control. This allows the seals to perform reliably in even the most challenging industrial environments, addressing issues that conventional rubber oil seals cannot solve.
A specific method is utilized to create the end grinding surface of each product. This method prevents early sealing failure due to angular discrepancies within the same batch of products and ensures the spherical angular stability of these items.
FUYOTE not only manufactures but also designs o-rings to complement its products. The high elasticity of these o-rings enhances product durability by increasing wear resistance.
The alignment of the two meshing boundary lines is advantageous for spherical cant design, enabling self-centering to correct any eccentricity or misalignment in the shaft.
When mechanical face seals are exposed to air for an extended period, they undergo changes. Therefore, it's important to handle them with care during installation. Before installing, remove the seal packing. Mechanical face seals are susceptible to damage, so it's crucial to install them in a clean environment and handle them cautiously.
For precise and accurate installation of o-rings, we recommend using installation tools. Incorrectly placed twist-on o-rings can cause uneven stress and may slip down from the metal ring, potentially leading to premature failure.
Mechanical face seals, especially the contact band, are highly precise components. During assembly, avoid using sharp objects and consider wearing gloves for added protection.
Given the temperature sensitivity of o-rings, it's essential to store floating seals in a dark, cool environment. Avoid crushing them during storage and ensure they are laid flat.
Twisting of o-rings can result in uneven tension, causing them to creep down from the metal ring and ultimately leading to premature failure.
A floating seal cannot be utilized under inappropriate pressure and velocity conditions, and the use of lubricants should be approached with caution.
The recommended temperature range for optimal performance is between -40 and 150 degrees Celsius.
These seals can handle a working liner speed of up to 10 meters per second.
Typically, floating seals are designed to withstand pressures of up to 0.3 MPa.
Proper lubrication of the seal within the sealing gaps is crucial, and it's preferable to use oil lubrication over grease.
Maintaining the correct oil level is essential, and it should be situated between the midpoint of the axis and the inner diameter of the seal, approximately two-thirds of its diameter. It is advisable to use gearbox oils with SAE 80 and SAE 90 ratings.
